The long-standing partners have been working together since the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games.
DB Schenker has extended its agreement with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to provide logistics, courier services, freight forwarding and customs clearance services for a number of IPC events, including upcoming Paralympic Games, until the end of 2020.
Under the terms of the new agreement DB Schenker will support the IPC for the Pyeong Chang 2018 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and other events, while the IPC will look to offer DB Schenker’s services to a number of Local Organising Committees, broadcasters and IPC members.
Xavier Gonzalez, the IPC’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “DB Schenker’s logistics services are invaluable to the IPC for our major events and day-to-to day activities. We hope under the scope of this agreement that we can help share their quality services to beyond the IPC so that is can benefit the IPC membership, event organisers and our broadcast partners.”
Christian Schultze, Head of Product Management Sports Events at DB Schenker said: “We are pleased that we will continue to supply complete logistics services for IPC since 2004. Our experienced team will support the athletes with tailored logistics solutions. They can once again trust in DB Schenker‘s experience and flexibility, which is absolutely necessary for major sporting events abroad.
The Athens 2004 Paralympic Games marked the first time the IPC and DB Schenker worked together. Since then the transportation and logistics provider has supported the IPC at a number of Paralympic Games and World and regional Championships.
