BPA Attends the World's Largest Cruise Convention - Cruise Shipping Miami 2015
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Lim Ki-tack) attended the world's largest cruise convention-Cruise Shipping Miami 2015 (CSM 2015) and promoted Busan Port as an East Asian cruise hub in the presence of global cruise liners, officials from ports, and related industries.
BPA participated in the first official event of CSM 2015 - World Cruise Tourism Summit - on March 16th local time and engaged in active discussions.
BPA discussed the development potential of Northeast cruise market with executives from major cruise liners including RCCL and MSC under the theme of "Port Facility Status in Emerging Cruise Markets?and promoted development potentials of Busan Port.
BPA Director Shin Jin-sun, who attended the discussion, stated, "Major cruise liners pay great attention to the Northeast market including Korea. We, BPA, will put forth concerted efforts to develop the Busan Port cruise industry through targeted marketing of major shipping companies while competing with the Chinese cruise market."
In addition, BPA engaged in promotion activities targeting cruise officials who will participate in the "Seatrade Cruise Asia 2015 (2015 Busan Int'1 Cruise Convention), Asia's largest cruise convention, on June 11 at Bexco.
Cruise vessels called at Busan Port 110 times last year and the port expects 137 calls this year with 280,000 cruise tourists. The Busan local economy will be invigorated when the Busan Port cruise industry vitalizes in the future.
