BPA discusses mutual growth with its biggest clients, Chinese shipping companies.
As part of the marketing strategy to attract cargo volume to Busan Port, Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Lim Ki-tack) invited representatives of Chinese shipping companies to the 멌hinese Shipping Company CEO Meeting' at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Sogong-dong Seoul on Feb. 4th.
CEOs from eight Chinese shipping companies including COSCO, COHEUNG, EAS, SITC, SINOTRANS, CSCL, Jungtong Shipping, and Doowoo Shipping participated in the marketing meeting.
BPA has great interest in Chinese shipping companies because China is a major trade nation with Busan Port and plays a significant role in increasing cargo volume at the port.
Container cargo volume between Busan and China was 4.646 million TEU in 2014, accounting for 25% of the total cargo volume of Busan Port. In particular, the transshipment cargo volume was 2.874 million TEU out of 9.414 million TEU, which accounts for 31%.
BPA plans to strengthen mutual growth with Chinese shipping companies by applying ideas discussed at the meeting to Busan Port operating policies and draw up co-existence measures continuously.
