OTAL upgrades shipping services to West Africa
OT Africa Line(OTAL) has announced a number of developments designed t
o give customers access to better sailing frequencies and West Africa
’s most comprehensive transport infrastructure. These service enhance
ment will be operational in the third week of February 2000.
OTAL continues to operate its established two-string containership and
multipurpose ro-ro services. However, these have been restructed to p
rovide a more comprehensive and better all-round schedule, made possib
le for the first time by linking OTAL with group shipping services.
OTAL’s containership service has been upgraded from three 1000TEU ves
sels to four, providing an improved sailing frequency from every 14 da
ys to every 11 days. OTAL has achieved this upgrade by taking on two v
essels previously operated by Delmas, OTAL’s sister company and by ut
ilising two of its existing vessels.
OTAL’s containership service calls at Le Harve, Rousen, Thamesport an
d Antwerp before calling at the African ports of Casablanca(Morocco),
Nouakchott(Mauritania), Dekar(Senegal), Banjul(The Gambia), Cona-kry(G
uinea), Freetown(Sierra Leone), Monrovia(Liberia), Lagos and Port Harc
ourt(Nigeria). Then northbound vessels call at Abidjan and San Pedro i
n Africa and in Leixoes in Portugal before starting the rotation again
in Le Harve.
