Yang Ming Euromax terminal operational with AES3 loop
The new Euromax terminal, a partnership between ECT and CKYH Alliance at the port of Rotterdam, started operations with the call of the first Yang Ming vessel, YM Portland, from the AES3 loop on July 22,
2008. Depending on operational results, CKYH loops will switch from their current berth at ECT Delta to Euromax one-by-one. The opening reception is scheduled for September 5th and the terminal will officially start operations on January 1, 2009.
The terminal is located at the northern side of the Yanghtzehaven in Maasvlakte I area, and the first phase of construction will be a facility dedicated to CKYH Alliance that will be developed into a principal hub in the northwest European region accessible to feeders, barges, trucks and the on-dock rails.
The new terminal will boast some of the most sophisticated container handling facilities in the world. Phase one of the terminal will have a berth of 1,500 meters and a capacity of 2,300,000 TEU per year, which will enable ECT and CKYH Alliance to meet the growing demand for deep-sea container handling capacity in northwest Europe in the short term.<Korea Shipping Gazette>
