Shipping Forwarders' Membership Applications to the K.A.S.A. Rushed

The KASA (Korea America Shipper's Association) which Korea Internation
al Freight Forwarders Association (KIFFA) is in charge of, completed i
ts applicaton for admission on April 27.
It had an general meeting on April 25. 36 member companies participate
d in and discussed general rates and future directions. It also exchan
ged information about the conditions in the U.S. and decided Service C
ontract (SC) rates will be discussed later. As the SC making season b
egins, many forwarders are concerned with the further activity of the
KASA.
When the KASA is active, shipping companies get money and save time in
obtaining stabilizing cargoes and shippers can save on the expenses o
f transportation. KASA authorities said that the KASA must handle a to
tal amount of 16,000 TEUs.
