APL Logistics Names Marianne McDonald as VP, Retail Marketing & Sales

APL Logistics, the Oakland-based provider of global supply-chain servi
ces, announced the appointment of Marianne McDonald, former director o
f worldwide logistics for apparel maker and marketer Liz Claiborne, In
c., as vice president of retail marketing and sales.
McDonald, with more than 24 years of experience in managing supply cha
ins for some of the world’s leading retailers, will be responsible fo
r developing and marketing “unlimited supply-chain solutions” for re
tailers, said Tim Rhein, acting chief executive officer of APL Logisti
cs.
Said McDonald: “APL is a recognized leader in developing web-based in
formation technologies that improve supply-chain visibility for retail
ers and in other sectors. I am excited to be joining a company where I
can help strengthen these capabilities for an industry whose requirem
ents I know so well.”
Prior to her association with Liz Claiborne, McDonald held senior logi
stics management positions with Reebok International, Ltd.: The Melvil
le Corporation: and The Limited Inc. She also has been associated with
Givency International and the Bloomingdale Bros. division of Federate
d Department Stores.
She has substantial experience in implementing organizational change s
o that logistics activities better align with corporate strategies, in
modifying supply-chain transportation for retailers, Rhein noted.

tail and other industries.” said Rhein, whose organization already pr
ovides supply-chain services to a number of leading retailers.
